The following sections illustrate some of Mutiny Bay issues from flooding, storms, etc.

Mutiny Bay Boat Ramp Historical Observations

This document illustrates the changes in the Mutiny Bay shoreline north of the boat ramp.  The document shows the Casuse and effect of the Island Country’s  dredging of Robenson Boat Ramp to keep it open. It also illustrates the negative impacts to Mutiny Bay caused by Island County’s operations.  Created by Jim Black

Mutiny Bay 2022 Flooding

Illustrates the impacts of the 2022 flooding to Mutiny Bay and Cedar Street.

It Makes and argument why Island County should align its SMP The same as the department of Ecology and most other Counties.  Erosion is the result of high tides, waves, and currents, not just waves and currents.  Created by Jim Black

The movies are from the 2018 storm.  The movies illustrate how the Anchored log soft shore along with the native sea grass (dune grass) help protect the shoreline from erosion during big storm events.   Note the logs float and dissipate the majority of the wave energy and the sea grass root structure holds the sand together.

Anchored Log soft shore do not work in all shoreline situations but to date they have worked well along our Mutiny Bay beach.

Flood 2022

These videos show the Mutiny Bay Flooding of 2022.  This flooding was caused by high tides and low barometric pressure and luckily no wind.  The high tides breached the shoreline at two properties and  eroded a channel back to Cedar street.  The videos show the extent of the flooding and damage to both shoreline homes and the homes behind on Cedar street.
